About This Role

The Pathways Internship Program is open to all eligible students regardless of age, including older individuals and veterans who are students. Program participants may be appointed to any grade level for which they qualify. Previous education and/or experience may be evaluated to determine the highest grade level for which the individual is qualified. Below are the minimum qualification requirements for each grade advertised: GS-1 Student Trainee (Clerk): Enrollment in a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) program. GS-2 Student Trainee (Clerk): Completion of high school or GED diploma. GS-3 Student Trainee (Clerk): Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study. GS-4 Student Trainee (Clerk): Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. GS-5 Student Trainee (Assistant): Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. GS-7 Student Trainee (Admin Support): Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree. In addition to meeting the above minimum qualification requirement, you must meet the Pathways Internship Program Eligibility requirements: you must be a current student in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. Applicants must meet the definition of a "Student" at the time of appointment and throughout the duration of the appointment. Student is defined as: an individual who has been accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements (e.g., time-in-grade and qualification requirements) within 30 days of the closing date specified in the vacancy announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This appointment may be extended in increments of up to one year without further competition based on the need of the organization for the work to continue and provided the individual continues to meet the eligibility requirements. Additional extensions may be granted up to the maximum allowable time in accordance with the Program, as long as the program participant maintains student eligibility. At the successful conclusion of this program, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional appointment. Program participants must meet the qualification requirements for the position to which converted. This position is part of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Pathways Internship Program, providing a developmental experience with formal education and exposure to policy, administration, law, technology, finance, human resources, and communications to support preparation for a civil service career at the EEOC. The Pathways Internship Program is open to all eligible students regardless of age, including older individuals and veterans who are students.
