Paralegal Specialist

GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service; a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related; or a combination of experience and education. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as experience providing a variety of legal support and technical work requiring specialized knowledge of processes, procedures and practices in the litigation process that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of such experience are drafting various forms of legal process, including subpoenas, motions to seal or non-disclosure orders, applications for search warrants or pen registers, and other court orders; preparing, organizing, indexing, and maintaining discovery productions in assigned cases, including reviewing the production for completeness and accuracy; using various electronic data platforms to organize, index, and cross-reference large volumes of electronic case information, including documents, social media posts, audio files, and video files; and operating trial software during court proceedings to display exhibits to the court and the jury. OR Education: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. OR Combining Education and Experience: a combination of specialized experience and education which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
