About This Role

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required basic requirement and specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Basic Requirement: Master's degree with practicum: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) that included a practicum. Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in DOJ must possess a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently as recognized in the state licensed, whereby clinical supervision is not required. (You must provide a copy of your license with your application.) To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) ALL of the duties listed below: Leading a team of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselors or social work professionals; Providing oversight and guidance on federal EAP policies and procedures; Allocating caseloads among EAP staff; Ensuring quality case management of EAP clients through consultations and referral to appropriate services outside the EAP. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases). The Department of Justice offers Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services and resources to Federal Department of Justice employees and their eligible family members, including confidential counseling and referrals.
