About This Role

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements: Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair Interpret Instructions, Specifications (includes blueprint reading) Lead or Supervise Materials Measuring Instruments Technical Practices Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Driver's License Required: Must possess a valid Driver's License to operate a motor vehicle. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: While performing duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions. Incumbent is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals are used, and vibration of equipment. Incumbent works indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions such as high and extremely low temperatures. Some outdoor projects may require work near moving vehicles and exposure to the possibility of falls while working on scaffolds or ladders. Incumbent is subject to high noise levels from operating power tools, or other hazards such as airborne dust, cuts, bruises, and irritation of eyes and skin from exposure to chemicals. The use of protective gear such as ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, and gloves are required. Incumbent safely drives in all types of traffic and/or weather conditions and is exposed to possible accidents and injury. The incumbent must have a current, valid state issued driver's license. You will be asked to participate in a pre-employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre-employment process for this position. Questions about physical demands or environmental factors may be addressed at the time of evaluation or examination. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for a wide variety of complex engineering tasks to support the Facility Operations Section of the Engineering Service Line. The position ensures all maintenance and utility systems for the hospital are always maintained properly and remain operational. Utility - Supervises HVAC shop, Electric Shop, and Plumbing Shop. Maintenance - Supervises Masons, Carpenters, Grounds, and Equipment Mechanics.
