About This Role

To qualify at the GS-7 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Operating a variety of firefighting vehicles to perform fire suppression and rescue operations such as Fire Engines (Pumper), Ladder Trucks (Aerial Apparatus), Rescue Vehicle. Operating Fire Hoses & Reels, Nozzles to Control water flow, pressure, and spray patterns, Fire Hydrants and Valves, Fire Extinguishers, and Foam Systems. Performing patient assessment by conducting physical exams, performing CPR, using portable life saving devices and managing airway devices; Controlling bleeding, treating for shock, and stabilizing patients. Controlling, containing, and confining spills or leaks; Using detection equipment to identify unknown substances; Using personal protecting gear to safely operate in toxic environments. Must possess (or obtain within one year of employment) and maintain (i.e. recertification) the following: Apparatus Driver-Operator for Pumpers and Water Tender Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC)' Firefighter I and II Fire Officer I Fire Instructor I Fire Inspector I Confined Space Rescue (when resources allow) HAZMAT Operations (awareness, and operations) EMT - Basic Life Support ICS-100, ICS- 200, IS 700, and IS-800 National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
