About This Role

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes 1) Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). 2) Supervising or administering a training program. 3) Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. 4) Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. , if related. Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position of Supervisory Training Specialist. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your official transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position when combined must equal 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of Logistics Readiness Squadron programs and objectives in order to identify training requirements, skill upgrades, and development programs that will assist in meeting squadron management objectives. 2. Knowledge of the military and civilian training program processes, or training program processes in parallel business and industry organizations in order to develop a comprehensive training program, 3. Knowledge of basic budget preparation as it applies to preparing and operating training budgets. 4. Knowledge of, and skill in developing course materials and instructional methods, principles, and techniques in order to develop self-contained training courses, obtain training resources and assess overall effectiveness in order to meet identified training requirements. 5. Skill in the use of automation software and related equipment. Ability to instruct training courses in a classroom, seminar setting. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing to include the ability to deal with diverse populations from educationally or vocationally underdeveloped to college graduates is necessary. 6. Ability to plan and organize work. Ability to maintain good working relationships. Knowledge of Air Force safety, EEO and personnel management policies. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The primary purpose of this position is to act as the squadron training manager and the supervisor of the Training Section which serves as the single point of contact responsible for planning, administering, developing and evaluating a complete training program for over 350 military and civilian employees assigned to the Logistics Readiness Squadron.
