Supervisory Information Security Specialist

To qualify for the GS-14 grade level, applicants must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade level, GS-13 in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Providing expert leadership and oversight within the foreign disclosure community, initiating high-impact policy shifts and adjudications that directly influence global interagency relations and future national security decisions. Serving as a persuasive communicator capable of interpreting sophisticated data to champion essential policies, backed by meticulous research and compelling articulation. Developing, and implementing policies and procedures for security applicable across the USCG. Leading, supervising, and evaluating federal employees, monitoring status of tasks, reviewing work products and providing feedback. Developing and implementing policies and procedures for information sharing arrangements with domestic and international partners, foreign disclosure, traditional information security (InfoSec), and operations security (OpSec). Leading, supervising, and evaluating federal employees, monitoring status of tasks, reviewing work products and providing feedback; coordinating with multiple internal and external partners to accomplish foreign disclosure and security missions. Providing direction and guidance to subordinate units responsible for information sharing and foreign disclosure. Briefing leadership regarding highly complex and challenging security issues and providing guidance and recommendations on possible solutions; providing exceptional attention to detail in all areas of responsibility. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
