About This Role

Skill in oral and written communication required. Experience with the Federal Payroll and Personnel System (FPPS), QuickTime and/or other automated timekeeping systems required; and experience with PeopleSoft HR/Payroll systems desirable. Expert knowledge of automated timekeeping systems, current accounting and payroll principles and practices, and their application to complex and difficult problems. Knowledge of proposed and enacted legislation, and regulations related to personnel practices, Comptroller General Decisions, IRS rulings, OPM bulletins, letters and other material relevant to basic and premium pay, tax withholdings, and employee benefit programs. Complete understanding of proper recording and disbursement of contributions and withholdings in specific general ledger accounts, thorough knowledge of accounts payable process, and knowledge of automated systems for producing reports in Microsoft Excel and other reporting software. The incumbent has knowledge of basic pay, premium pay and leave administration laws and regulations and uses that knowledge to address questions and provide assistance to managers and employees on basic pay, overtime and leave questions, special incentive and benefit programs (e.g. student loan, unemployment, compensation, educational assistance). The incumbent interprets and applies pay rules and regulations to resolve pay-setting errors or discrepancies. Incumbent has knowledge of federal worker's compensation laws, regulations and procedures including the processing of claims. This is a full-time position with the Human Resources Office at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C.
