About This Role

I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires standing, stooping, bending and reaching. Depending on daily assignment may sit or stand for extended periods of time. Close eye and hand coordination is required. The employee must frequently handle/lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally objects weighing up to 65 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a well-lighted ventilated Optical Fabrication laboratory. Hands are subjected to minor cuts, bruises or abrasions and burns. May be required to wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas of the laboratory. About the Position: Performs a variety of duties involved in the fabrication of prescription eyeglasses and other eyewear such as sunglasses, gas mask inserts, eye pro inserts, etc. The employee may perform a specific task for an extended period of time, but is required to be skilled in and to rotate to all other tasks as needed.
