About This Role

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS (GL)-07 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify at the GL-08 level if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS (GL)-07 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to provide technical guidance associated with drug testing, such as distributing collection materials to offenders and answering questions related to drug testing procedures; collecting specimens from offenders in accordance with approved chain of custody procedures; performing data handling tasks affiliated with the use of an automated drug testing management system; ensures that offenders are fully informed of collection process requirements and outlines the specific steps for drug test completion; OR B. Successful completion of at least 18 months of graduate-level education (27 semester/40 quarter hours) or above with courses completed such as biology; chemistry; computer science; criminal justice; drugs, alcohol, and society; sociology; or other directly related courses. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html). OR C. A combination of education and experience as listed above. Note about experience acquired: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The position serves as the Lead Drug Testing Technician, located in the Office of Community Supervision and Intervention Services within Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for the District of Columbia (CSOSA). CSOSA provides community supervision of adult offenders released by the DC Superior Court or the United States Parole Commission on probation, parole and supervised release in the District of Columbia.
