About This Role

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military grade in the Alabama Army National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Alabama Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. MINIMUM MILITARY RANK: SGT MAXIMUM MILITARY RANK: CW4 EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Each applicant must fully substantiate (in his/her own words) that he/she meets the requirements of the Specialized Experience listed below: Otherwise, the applicant will be considered unqualified for this position. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. In addition to the OPM IORs (Alternative A) specialized experience examples, specialized experience includes experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: -- Ability to establish Logistics Information Systems on land or satellite-based networks and operate systems in order to verify connectivity and system functionality for computers, network equipment and associated peripheral devices. -- Ability to trouble shoot and provide staff advisory/user assistance, training, evaluative services and functions to enhance computer system operability/interoperability. -- Knowledge of DOD, DA, and NGB IT regulations, policy, and guidance. -- Knowledge of data processing rules, operating procedures, terminology, codes, processing methods, network integration, and current operating system hardware and software characteristics, capabilities, and limitations combined with a knowledge of State/Territory technical and administrative requirements and procedures sufficient to research and evaluate feasibility of proposed automation applications, develop programs and make recommendations on new and upgraded hardware and software. -- Knowledge of Army National Guard (ARNG) CSS related missions, objectives, terminology, and management practices sufficient to recognize probable areas of interaction and overlap between proposed applications and existing systems. -- Knowledge of standard computer systems sufficient to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and skill to isolate causes. -- Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of a variety of hardware and operating systems; technical characteristics of computer equipment systems and software; and established equipment testing methods and terminology. -- Knowledge of instructional and communication techniques sufficient to conduct required training, provide customer/user assistance while improving their self-sufficiency and productivity with the equipment and software.
