About This Role

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 0203 Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-6, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include diverse knowledge of Air Force Reserve Component Personnel Accessions laws, policies, procedures, rules, guidelines, publications, etc., to interpret and apply governing HR directives and instruction in validating and resolving appointments, commissioning, transfers, and enlistments of military reserve personnel in determining officer appointments and enlisted grades and constructive service dates. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed graduate level education in a field directly related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-inΒ­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-6 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply an extensive body of military reserves Accessions program HR laws, rules, procedures, policies, business practices and operations concerning Reserve Accessions Knowledge of fundamental Air Reserve Component, Recruiting and Accessions programs policies, practices, methods, and analytical techniques for Air Force Reserve mission with the ability to work under the pressure of established deadlines and frequent unprogrammed short suspenses Comprehensive knowledge of format, content, and uses of the military personnel record, procedures and requirements regarding its maintenance Ability to gather and analyze facts, and draw conclusions from information, and to communicate information clearly, orally and in writing; Ability to work independently on assigned projects. Sets and achieves goals without external motivations Ability to perform Accessions management advisory services in regard to immediate, specific, non-controversial problems of limited scope. Analyze, interpret and articulate publications, directives and laws on appointment, enlistment and assignment policy and procedures; understand how they work interchangeably and coordinate different actions through appropriate DOD, AFPC, ARC and internal offices Ability to consult effectively with co-workers and specialists in other offices. Comprehensive knowledge of automated systems, personal computers, and software PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
