We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our International Team. The Finance Officer provides administrative and financial processing to ensure completion of award accounting in accordance with the funder directive. The role assists in the tracking and internal reporting of budgets on an award level and maintains the award budget integrity within the organisation’s Accounting System.

The Role

    • Monitor track, reconcile, and assist in monthly preparation of budget to actual reports for the organization’s grants and contracts with government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources including sub-awards.
    • Provide proactive oversight and analysis of budgets, expenditures (including procurement), accruals, pipelines, cost projections, and allocations.
    • Ensure fulfillment of each grant’s objectives and compliance with funder regulations and GRC policies when reconciling sub-award quarterly reports.
    • Support proposal budget preparation, working with program and business development teams when necessary.
    • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of the funder’s and GRC’s financial policies and procedures and serving as a resource for program teams.
    • Troubleshoot accounting problems; identify and implement creative solutions.
    • Assist the Finance Manager with annual and program audit preparation.
    • Assist the Finance Manager in preparing financial statement information reflecting the organization’s cash balances, expenditures, securities, and assets position.
    • Assist the Finance Manager in preparing periodic financial reports regarding grant status and spending to funders, as required by contract.
    • Reconcile and verify grant-related invoices with organization records and contractual agreements.
    • Support and contribute to the ongoing development of the team’s work by identifying potential areas for future activity and collaboration, consistent with strategic priorities.
    • Perform other financial tasks as required by the Finance Manager.

Your Background

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
    • 3+ years in a finance role within a non-profit or international development setting and with an emphasis on reconciliation and financial reporting.
    • Experience with enterprise-level accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).
    • Ability to gather financial data and accurately creating spreadsheets and financial reports.
    • Proficiency in Excel is essential; comfort with Word and other finance tools required.
    • General knowledge of non-profit GAAP and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); experience in Dutch financial reporting is an asset.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrate thoroughness and success with detailed & accurate work regardless of quantity of data.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving mindset and adaptability in uncertain environments.
    • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
