About This Role

Basic Requirement: You must provide supporting documentation in your application to show you meet the basic requirement below. Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: Major study in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, Human Performance and/or a related degree. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. You qualify for this position if you meet the basic requirement listed above and possess one year of specialized experience, as described below . Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Evaluating, developing, or reviewing physical training curricula and performance standards for law enforcement, military, or academy settings, ensuring alignment with evidence-based exercise science principles. Designing and implementing injury prevention programs, conducting root-cause analysis of training-related injuries, and applying risk management strategies to reduce musculoskeletal injuries in high-risk training environments. Administering, analyzing, and interpreting physical fitness and human performance assessments (e.g., aerobic capacity, strength, power, agility), and utilizing analytical tools or methodologies to evaluate program effectiveness and inform recommendations. Providing direct, evidence-based exercise physiology support in operational or field environments, including observing training sessions, assessing movement techniques, and advising on exercise prescription and injury risk for diverse populations (e.g., trainees, incumbents, staff). Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including medical professionals, safety officers, and training staff, to integrate exercise science, health, and safety best practices into organizational training and wellness programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
