THE ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for an ESG & Sustainability Manager to lead our environmental and social governance strategy. This role is critical to our mission and supports the business in embedding sustainable practices across all aspects of our operations. You will work closely with stakeholders across departments to assess and improve our impact while developing a structured approach to ESG.

TASKS

    • Lead the development of the company's ESG strategy in collaboration with relevant departments, including setting sustainability targets.
    • Execute and monitor ESG projects, including carbon accounting, decarbonisation roadmap development, and biodiversity and community programmes.
    • Prepare and oversee the publication of ESG reports and disclosures to ensure compliance with legislation and keep up to date with national and EU regulations.
    • Identify potential ESG risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Coordinate and oversee key benchmarking and certification processes (ISO 14001, EcoVadis, GRESB, etc.).
    • Liaise with auditors, consultants, and internal teams to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement.
    • Communicate consistent messaging on ESG performance and initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Provide training as necessary to raise awareness within the organisation on ESG/sustainability issues.
    • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including investors, employees, and the community (local authorities and associations).

PROFILE

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in ESG for renewables or infrastructure.
    • Knowledge of carbon accounting & biodiversity metrics, supply chain ESG audits, HSE fundamentals, materiality assessments, and the EU taxonomy.
    • Experience in developing and implementing ESG strategies, ideally in a similar role.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholder audiences; experience managing investor-grade sustainability reports.
    • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
    • Excellent English, both written and spoken. German language skills are advantageous.

Desirable skills

    • Experience with solar, wind, or other renewable energy project development.
    • Previous experience with ESG-linked financing/green bonds.
    • Familiarity with life-cycle assessment and habitat management.
