Basic Requirement: You must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered eligible for this position. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than length of experience. Ability to to perform work of the position without more than normal supervision In addition to the above requirements, applicants will be assessed based on their knowledge of the job elements identified below: Ability to organize and monitor testing for portable radios, such as program radio frequencies and firmware into equipment, set radio controls/switches to appropriate positions for testing, make adjustments to radio operating parameters, and document equipment performance Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance of communication-electronic equipment and systems Ability to follow oral and written instructions, specifications, manuals, etc. (related to electronic equipment/systems) Ability to utilize computer software to maintain inventory stock and track equipment refurbishment Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Selective Placement Factors: Must possess a valid state driver's license. These positions are located within the Washington Office Fire and Aviation Management, Operations Risk Management. The incumbent is responsible for refurbishing, testing, and aligning portable radios within the Communications Maintenance section of the National Interagency Incident Communications Division (NIICD) at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho.
