About This Role

To qualify for the position of Data Scientist, at GS-1560-13/14, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below. Basic Requirement: Applicants must meet the requirements specified in paragraphs A or B below. A. Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position OR B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE For the GS-13, you must meet the possess at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Developing business analytics to assess case management data in supporting legal actions; AND 2) Applying analytical or evaluative techniques to identify, assess and resolve issues or operational challenges For the GS-14, you must meet the possess at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Supporting long range program planning by delivering data-driven insights aligned with organizational goals, objectives, and milestones; 2) Conducting mathematic, statistical, or scientific analysis to evaluate and interpret data; AND 3) Assisting in developing processes guidelines instructions or policies to promote effective data management. This position serves as a Data Scientist, located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of the Pardon Attorney (PARDON) in Washington, DC. The President has requested and received the assistance of the Attorney General and designees in the DOJ in exercising clemency power regarding persons convicted for committing offenses against the United States. Within the DOJ, PARDON is the component assigned to carry out this function under the direction of the Deputy Attorney General.
